International Night - Oktoberfest

On Saturday 27th September, we’re transporting you straight to Bavaria as we celebrate Germany’s most famous festival — Oktoberfest!

A little fun fact: despite its name, Oktoberfest actually begins in September. The very first festival was held in 1810 to mark the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria. It proved so popular that it became an annual tradition. Over the years, the dates shifted earlier into September to take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather, with the final celebrations carrying through into October.

To honour this tradition, we’ve curated a hearty German-inspired menu filled with favourites that capture the true flavour of Oktoberfest. Start with Bavarian classics such as Obatzda with warm pretzels or a rustic potato and leek soup, before enjoying mains like crispy pork knuckle with beer gravy, pan-seared Cornish hake in Riesling & dill cream, or comforting cheese spätzle with caramelised onions. For dessert, indulge in traditional treats including apple strudel, Black Forest gateau, or the honey-almond delight of Bienenstich cake.

🍽️ Set Menu: 2 courses £25 · 3 courses £30

Raise a stein, share in the gemütlichkeit (that wonderful German sense of cheer and togetherness), and celebrate Oktoberfest with us here at Above the Bay!
